Banamex is the second-largest financial institution in Mexico and offers a service to private and corporate clients
Banamex is the retail arm of the National Bank of Mexico and it offers a full banking service to over 200 million customers in 100 countries. With a history that goes back to 1884, in 2001 it was bought by Citigroup, in what was at the time the biggest corporate purchase in Latin America.
The latest figures available show that Banamex has around 41,000 employees, and assets of $58 billion, making it the second biggest bank in Mexico.
Banamex Services
Corporate and private banking facilities are offered by Banamex, including transfers to online gambling sites where licensing laws allow, and of course, other online merchants including eBay and Amazon can be used via a Banamex account.
Direct payments from a bank account are possible, or customers can use a linked credit or debit card. Online and mobile banking is as popular in Mexico as it is anywhere else, although a network of branches across the region provides a walk-in service and customers can also use the worldwide network of ATM's that accept MasterCard.
Mortgages, loans, insurance, business capital and more all help to make Banamex one of the most important financial institutions in Mexi, and the integration with Citi has helped to increase the profile of the company across many other countries as well.
